Dem Rep. Kelly Alexander: Lt. Gov. Robinson’s conduct is “reminiscent of Pitchfork Ben Tillman”

Infamous ‘Pitchfork’ Ben Tillman spoke frequently of lynching black people and ensuring they never achieve political power

This is just the latest in a string of elitist attacks against black people who don’t toe the hyper-liberal party line

FLASHBACK: WRAL published a cartoon showing Mark Robinson in KKK garb

Raleigh, N.C. — They just won’t stop. The same day the North Carolina Democratic Party called on fellow Democrats to “curb Mark Robinson,” a Democratic member of the N.C. House of Representatives compared Lt. Gov. Robinson to infamous “Pitchfork” Ben Tillman, who advocated lynching black people in speeches on the floor of the United States Senate.

Democratic Rep. Kelly Alexander wrote yesterday that Lt. Gov. Robinson’s conduct “is reminiscent of that of Pitchfork Ben Tillman, who used virulent oratory to disenfranchise blacks and to ensure that white supremacy would reign supreme.”

“Pitchfork” Ben Tillman advocated lynching black people and ensuring they never gain political power.

It’s just the latest in a years-long pattern of Democratic Party elites targeting people of color who don’t fall in line with the party’s hyper-liberal platform, which is largely set by upper-class white liberals from Ivy League schools.

N.C. Policy Watch recently published a piece suggesting “all Black Republicans should be exiled to a penal colony.”

When Mark Robinson gave voice to parents concerned about school curriculum, WRAL published a cartoon showing him in KKK garb.

When black Democrats dared vote against Gov. Roy Cooper, his allies plastered their faces on a website called “Disloyal Dems.”

When Joel Ford dared sponsor a voter ID bill — a policy supported by a large majority of voters, including black voters — purported “social justice” organization Democracy NC labeled him a “prop.

Even thought leaders within the Democratic Party are sounding the alarm on the party’s elitist posture and attacks on those who don’t fall in line, noting the party is quickly losing black and Latino voters who aren’t part of their elite club.

Senate Leader Phil Berger (R-Rockingham) said, “The least the woke elite can do is hold themselves to the same ridiculous standards they’re demanding of everybody else. Reasonable moderates and conservatives believe that people of all colors and backgrounds should be free to express themselves however they wish and live their lives with equal opportunity without obnoxious ridicule from the elites. In the meantime, we’ll call out the liberal elites who refuse to abide by their own standards.”
