Sen. Hise Congratulates Governor Cooper

Raleigh, N.C. — The News & Observer ran a story today with a few straightforward questions for each candidate for Governor. One of the questions asked, “Should North Carolina continue giving out corporate incentives?”

Governor Cooper didn’t even answer the question.

Senator Ralph Hise, who co-chairs the Senate Finance Committee, said, “I’d like to congratulate Governor Cooper for realizing there is no answer for his blatant hypocrisy on corporate taxes. He’s against corporate tax cuts until he can pick and choose which corporations get a tax break, then he welcomes them with open arms at made-for-TV events..”

Last year, Governor Cooper gave away $146 million in corporate tax breaks.
